Communication Officer – UNDP Aug 2011

UNDP Nepal works in the areas of transitional governance, pro-poor policies and sustainable livelihoods, peace building and recovery, energy, environment and natural disaster management along with gender and HIV as cross cutting issues with its annual programme of US$ 40 million. It was established in Nepal in 1963 and works closely with the Government and development partners, thousands of community and civil society groups in all 75 districts of Nepal. In all its activities, UNDP encourages social inclusion, protection of human rights and empowerment of women.

The Conflict Prevention Programme (CPP) is a UNDP assisted DEX project. UNDP is a key implementer of peace building initiatives to support Nepal’s peace process. A Peace Building and Recovery Unit (PBRU) was established in 2007 and has been providing dedicated assistance to key peace building activities related to constitution building, support to the discharge and rehabilitation of former Maoist army combatants, capacity development to strengthen national and local-level peace building mechanisms, and support to develop collaborative leadership and other peace building capacities.
UNDP has recently launched a Conflict Prevention Programme (CPP).The first phase of implementation will last two years. The two main pillars of the CPP are: 1) Collaborative Leadership and Dialogue (CLD) and 2)
Mainstreaming Conflict Sensitivity into UNDP and UNCT programming, policy and processes.

The CPP seeks applications from eligible Nepalese nationals for the following position:
Communication Officer (no. of position: 1)
Service Contract at SB 4/ III level (Annual Remuneration: Rs. 1,409,448.00)
Duty Station: Kathmandu
